Hard-Cover Structures
Sentinel+ Quick Facts
Purpose
A modular, hard-cover structure system designed to provide durable, semi-permanent housing and infrastructure in displacement, recovery and service delivery settings where tents and light shelters are no longer appropriate.Typical Use Cases
- Housing for displaced community members in prolonged and semi-permanent displacement
- Health facilities and clinics
- WASH facilities (toilets, showers, hygiene blocks)
- Communal kitchens and cooking spaces
- Classrooms and learning hubs
- Operations, administration and coordination centres
- Staff accommodation
- CommUnity Spaces supporting shared services and community life
Configuration and Layout
Sentinel+ is built around a universal structural Grid™ combined with interchangeable Tiles™ that define function (wall, door, window, ventilation, services or internal partition). This shared system allows Sentinel+ units to be deployed as:- Standalone structures
- Linked rows for housing, kitchens or administration
- Hub configurations for clinics, learning and community services
- Corridor layouts that safely connect spaces and protect movement in all weather
- Hard-panel wall and roof system designed for durability, security and long-term exposure
- On-ground or raised-floor configurations, depending on flood risk, terrain and site conditions
- Integrated anchoring and grounding system (TensionPro+) for high-wind, monsoonal and severe-weather environments
- Hard-panel wall and roof system designed for durability, security and long-term exposure
- On-ground or raised-floor configurations, allowing Sentinel+ to be installed directly on existing concrete slabs, asphalt or prepared base materials where available, or elevated where flood risk and terrain require
- Integrated anchoring and grounding system (TensionPro+) for high-wind, monsoonal and severe-weather environments
Localisation, Waste and Logistics
- Localisable design: panels and components can be manufactured regionally to support local economies
- Low-waste system: flat-packable, reusable and repairable, with replaceable components and no full-unit disposal
- Can be supplied as component kits for maximum container efficiency and fewer deliveries
- Or pre-fabricated to varying levels for faster installation with fewer units per container
- Deployment approach is selected in partnership with agencies and donors, based on site conditions and urgency
- Designed to replace dozens of fixed caravan or prefab variants with a single adaptable system, reducing procurement complexity
Services and Power Readiness
- Pre-wired and pre-planned for solar power, lighting, fans, heating, cooking and other electrical needs
- Compatible with integrated WASH, power and service systems as part of broader site planning
- Intended for prolonged use beyond emergency timelines
- Reusable, repairable and re-deployable components
- Designed to reduce lifecycle cost, waste and repeated replacement cycles
- Designed to align with UN SDGs and UNHCR shelter and infrastructure guidelines
